Born in Pasuruan, he draws inspiration from his home town — for example, the fact that he lives near the sea. The lives underneath the sea fascinate him to the point that he constantly paints sea biomes, often from various perspectives. The sea always brings joy to Medik.

Medik started his arts career in 2004 by finishing fine-art education in a public college in Surabaya. He would later join various painting groups, including the Pawitra art projeck, and showcase his works in several painting exhibitions. Medik often incorporates symbolism of marine life into his paintings, making them the trademark and characterizing feature of his work. The symbolism was largely inspired by his growing up around the beach of Pasuruan. His unique perspective upon marine life is embodied joyfully in his paintings, much like a colorful aquarium.
