About the Artwork

The artist is playing and experimenting with acrylic impasto floral technique here in this artwork. She is inspired by falling flower petals. Asmara, the artist, deliberately chose monochromatic color palette as a manifestation of her soft and calm side. This is a complete opposite from her public image, which is outgoing and playful. A persone that is also shown through her style that is usually dominated with bright colors. 
 
This dualism in her art style is rather surprising, but Asmara believes that becoming a multi-faceted artist should not be frown upon. The calmness that defines her decorative pieces is balancing out her explosive character.

About the Artist

born. Jakarta, 1978.
Asmara graduated from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) as an Interior Design major in 2001. Even though she has a background in art, she first started her career in media. She then took a leap and started over her career as an illustrator and professional visual artist in 2020.
 
She is largely inspired by Belgian comic 'Ligne Claire' that she adopted its visual style. Her visual style is cartoon, though she also likes to create decorative pieces which theme revolves around flowers.
