About the Artwork

---

Embracing the mantra “Less is bore”, Tommy Chandra illustrates this minimalist house under the notion that simplicity indeed can be captivating. However, additional elements must be strategically added to avoid monotony. Tommy's ultimate aim is in showing that minimalism that is complemented by few additional elements can look elevated, captivating to the viewers, and not boring.

About the Artist

---

Tommy Chandra is an illustrator and graphic designer from Bintaro that specializes in vector illustration and has been creating since 2008. He runs a small illustration and design studio, HEIMLO

His journey in illustration began as he searched for something new and exciting to break through the mundanity of everyday life. His works encapsulate feelings of awe and wonder through various color palettes, shapes, and subjects – often including human figures, animals, fictional characters, and architectural structures. Some of his greatest inspirations include Charley Harper and M.S. Escher.

As a result of his dedicated pursuit of illustration, Chandra has worked with Google, becoming their first Indonesian doodle artist in 2014. He has also gained the attention of various notable collectors and had his work exhibited by Tezos at the Artmoments Jakarta event in 2022.

For Chandra, the main goal is to continue pursuing the freedom of expression, with a hope that one day his works will be displayed in acclaimed global contemporary museums alongside other great artists.
